History of the Rosary English School, Watangi

Rosary English School, Watangi is the first and only Catholic School in the Watangi village. Village is situated in a lush green forest in a traditional Village setting. The place is ideally located away from the Taluka headquarters yet just a few kilometers from Ajara town. The main occupation of the people is farming; therefore, most of the farmers depend on the rain water for their cultivations of rice, groundnuts and sugarcane.

Rosary English School, Watangi was founded in 1972 by the people themselves with the active help of Mr. Pasku Jerome D’souza & Mr. Intru Pedru D’souza who were then the Chairman of the School. Under his dynamic leadership the school made considerable progress. The school that began with lower Kindergarten classes in the church hall of Watangi soon grew to be a full – fledged Primary School with Standards I – VI and 110 Children currently studying in the Watangi School.

Rosary English School, Watangi stands with the motto, “LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE” and a commitment in providing holistic, value based education to the young minds of the locality. Right from its humble inception in 1972, the School is imparting education to the locals irrespective of their economic Status, Caste and Creed.

However, the Rosary English School, Watangi was subsequently given to the SFN Sisters of Sancoale, Goa to run it. The SFN Sisters continue to manage the school till date.
